Baseball fans are less than two weeks away from getting their hands on MLB The Show 22, which debuts on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox in April. The scheduled weekly update includes a new addition to the Legends roster, and the newest member is an iconic one.

Brian Wilson, who spent nine years in the MLB —seven with the Giants and two with the Los Angeles Dodgers— is the newest member of the MLB The Show 22 Legends squad. Retiring in 2015, Wilson played in 394 games, facing 1,649 batters and striking out 407 of them.

Known by fans as "The Beard," Wilson is an exceptional addition to this year's roster. A three-time All-Star and 2010 World Series winner, he became an instant fan favorite with his ability to make saves in important games and strike out some of the best in the game. In the 2010 season, Wilson carried a Giants team with 48 saves and ended the season with a below-2 ERA, finishing seventh in Cy Young voting and 13th in MVP votes. In the same year, he appeared in three playoff games, striking out four batters and allowing only three hits, en route to the Giants World Series win. Wilson is the second pitcher in the last three announcements to be revealed, with New York Yankees Mike Mussina becoming a Legend two weeks prior.

San Diego Studio is doing a phenomenal job introducing a wide range of players to the game, from big names like Randy Johnson and Ryan Howard to an iconic duo like Minnesota Twins teammates Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer. Wilson's inclusion to the Legends roster shouldn't surprise anyone, as he quickly became a household name in San Francisco with his range of pitching choices and his post-game celebrations. Perhaps the most memorable moment of his career occurred in 2010 when Wilson came into the game during the eighth inning with five outs remaining. Wilson forced a ground-out double play to end the eighth before striking out Howard on a 3-2 pitch, helping the Giants capture the NL Championship and advance to the World Series.

MLB The Show 22 will likely add one final member to the Legends roster in the week leading up to the game's release. The game has potential to be one of the best baseball titles in recent memory, and fans are taking notice of the developer's efforts. With many details coming to light, such as the game's March To October and Road To The Show modes showcasing new insight, baseball fans will have plenty to be excited about when the game is finally released.

MLB The Show 22 releases on April 5 for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
