Despite posting lower sales numbers than previous franchise titles, Call of Duty: Vanguard was still the best-selling game of 2021. A major reason for this success is because Call of Duty: Vanguard sports the iconic multiplayer indicative of the franchise along with an incredibly cinematic campaign.
The campaign has a lot of good things going for it: it had a star-studded cast of voice actors for its villains and heroes, and many of the missions were built to explain each hero's backstory. A large portion of the missions tended to play out like a Michael Bay movie filled to the brim with cinematic moments and plenty of explosions; the same goes for the multiplayer, especially with high-profile updates like the upcoming addition of Snoop Dogg to Call of Duty: Vanguard.
However, some players found more fun in the hilarious moments of the campaign, many of which were caused by their own blunders. One of these moments was captured by a Reddit user who made a fatal mistake mere seconds into the campaign. While many players look forward as rumors spread about the next Call of Duty title being delayed, this player decided to finally give Call of Duty: Vanguard's campaign a go.
Reddit user RapGameRufio created a clip of their unfortunate and hilarious first attempt at the game's campaign. The first mission sees RapGameRufio and their comrades on a train while rain pours down around them. One after another, RapGameRufio's comrades jump from their train car onto a train beside them. However, when it comes to RapGameRufio, they attempt the jump like their comrades, only for one of their friends to block their jump. The result was a hilarious start to the campaign, with RapGameRufio falling between the trains mere seconds into the story.
While many would expect comments to make fun of RapGameRufio for their epic failure, many users offered their sympathy. Some users admitted they had done the exact same thing, while others cursed their teammates for blocking their jump. One user commented that they thought they were stupid for dying at that moment, only to find that many others had made the same failed jump. Many players could have benefited from the Call of Duty: Vanguard Attack on Titan update, as some of its movement gear could have saved hundreds of players from a funny fall.
Some users in the thread admitted they had never even tried the campaign; this seems to be a trend with games in the franchise recently. Though most players would agree that Call of Duty: Vanguard's campaign isn't comparable to the better ones of the franchise, that doesn't mean players shouldn't at least give it a chance. With glitches like the Call of Duty: Vanguard glide bomb bug plaguing multiplayer, perhaps players would enjoy taking a jump off the train and into the game's campaign.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
