The Borderlands franchise has always included unique Easter Eggs hidden within quests that players have had to uncover during their playthrough. From the Mutated Turtles and a Rat (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) in Borderlands 2 to Wick and Warty (Rick and Morty) in Borderlands 3, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands doesn't hold back either.
Players have already discovered a Smurfs Easter Egg in Weepwild Dankness. However, another unique Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Easter Egg is hidden within the side quest, A Knight's Toil, which coincidentally also features everyone's favorite talkative robot, Claptrap.
How to Start A Knight's Toil
To start A Knight's Toil, players will need to fast travel to the Dank Encroachment fast travel point in Weepwlind Dankness. After arriving at Dank Encroachment, players should notice an ! next to the Vending Machines, where they'll start the quest. Claptrap will then appear near the player and ask them to follow them to Lake Lady.
Brief Quest Objectives:
- Meet Claptrap in Weepwild Dankness
- Find and Help Lake Lady
- Find and Defeat Llance
- Defeat King Archer
- Meet and Defeat Mervin
- Collect Holey Spell-nade
Players should come prepared for this side quest as they'll need to defeat several powerful enemies, including Mervin the Wizard. But of course, players can complete this solo, but it would be easier to team up with other players via Tiny Tina's Wonderlands' Crossplay.
Meeting Lady Lake
Claptrap leads the player to Lady Lake so they can ask her for help in locating a magical weapon. But, Lady Lake wants a favor in return which is "taking care" of her noisy Goblin neighbors. Players should now follow the quest marker to an area with several little huts and many Goblins playing a large drum.
As players expect, they'll need the noisy neighbors since they can't be reasoned with. The drumming Goblins will begin to attack the player while several Goblin Gunslingers will come out of the nearby huts. Once dealt with, players can return to Lady Lake.
Confronting Llance and His Squires
Claptrap and the player head over to the location of the mystical sword Extra-Caliber, but Llance and his frog-like Squires are guarding the sword. Llance then tells the player that the only way they'll pass is if they become King of the Cap.
Llance then teleports to a nearby mushroom on a large tree and begins to taunt the player and Claptrap. Players must now knock him off the Mushroom by performing a melee slam attack on it. After knocking him off, Llance's Squires will begin to attack the player, and shortly afterward, Llance joins in on the fight.
Obtaining King Archer's Hand
After trying to pull Extra-Caliber to no avail, Claptrap tells the player to defeat King Archer and retrieve his hand since only a hand of noble birth can remove it. Unfortunately, King Archer is quite the foe as he'll spawn in several Round Table Knights that constantly teleport around the area.
The best way to deal with this boss is to use Poison Elemental Damage on King Archer and his minions since they have armor.
Fighting Mervin and Quest Completion
After giving Claptrap the sword Extra-Caliber, Claptrap discovers the hidden tower of Mervin in a nearby cave. Once inside, Mervin is not amused that Claptrap has Extra-Caliber, so he wants to put Claptrap through various tests, but Claptrap tells the player to complete the tests.
After completing some tests, Mervin traps the player in a hellish prison. But, Claptrap assists the player by accidentally teleporting them into an Unreal Engine room with a Transform tool and a couple of blank game objects.
After returning to Mervin's Tower, players will need to fight Mervin and several of his clones (Clawbringer's Cleansing Flames can easily take care of the clones).
Once defeated, Claptrap will reward the player with 4436 XP, $7730, and a rare Spell "Holey Spell-Nade of Omens," which deals massive AOE damage.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
